Until Further Notice the following changes are in effect: (updated March 10, 2021)
Statement of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston
Earlier this week, Governor Abbott issued an executive order to be effective March 10, 2021, allowing all Texas businesses to reopen at 100%. The order also ends the statewide mask mandate, but strongly encourages the wearing of face coverings when it is not feasible to maintain social distancing from another person not of the same household. Private businesses, including churches, are allowed the discretion to determine whether face coverings will remain mandatory.
Over the last few days, Archdiocesan officials have engaged in a series of consultations regarding the order, which included input from clergy and medical professionals. Recognizing the needs of this local Church, in particular the need to protect the most vulnerable among us, we have determined that…
all our current COVID-19 protocols will remain in place until further notice, including the requirement for face coverings at Mass and other liturgical celebrations.
In person attendance of Sunday Mass is still not obligatory as of August 14, 2020 in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. You may watch via livestream to fulfill your Sunday obligation.
Sunday 10:00 am Mass is available via livestream on YouTube. We can accommodate 70 people with safe social distancing in the chapel. People may also gather on the lawn for Mass and come inside the chapel during Communion.
Sunday at 4:00 pm takes place during the semester. Again we will limit the number of students in order to safely social distance.
(Please see Calendar of Events for more Daily Mass and Holy Days Information – If a Holy Day of Obligation is not listed on the calendar we encourage you to attend the Co-Cathedral or Holy Rosary.) The Co-Cathedral is two blocks off the Metro Line.
